Why This Blog?

This blog is here mostly for my own sake, to keep track of a chain of events that began on February 4, 2009.

The chain of events included among other things, initiating a move across the Atlantic, to Buffalo, NY, USA. After having followed through on our plans, we find ourselves in Hamburg, NY, in our new home, I have a new job, we all enjoy having gotten a chance to do something different.

It has been a long journey though, it has included:

  • Selling a condo during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
  • Acquiring a US Immigrant Visa now turned into a Green Card for me.
  • Registering our son’s US Citizenship.
  • Selling/dumping/shipping all our worldly possessions.
  • Getting a US Learner Permit for me, later turned into a Driving License.
  • Finding a place to live, dealing with the hassles of having no credit history.
  • Me working at a mini mart to keep sane.
  • Looking for employment in an area with very high unemployment and few tech jobs available.
  • After two months, I got a job with an employer which I stayed with until June 24, 2011, it was a great place to work, great colleagues and tasks.
  • On June 27, 2011, I start in a new position with a major medical device manufacturer in Western New York, it feels as though the circle is complete, I look forward to new challenges and feel now that we made the right decision in February of 2009.

  1. I am really glad we are giving this a try. We would of never known how it would of been had we not tried.

Sweden will always be here if things don’t work out in the USA after a few years.

    Love,
    Heather

  2. Well honey, looking back I know now that we made the right choice!
