2012

2011 Highlights:

- My wife losing 100 lbs, kudos to her for really impressing us all.
- Two trips to DC, one with Alex and one with the whole family minus Rain.
- A call from a recruiter. A new job.
- My parents came to see us this summer.
- Traveling all over the US and getting paid for it.
- Seeing my son start first grade, he is amazing.

Happy New Year everyone!

December

This December went by really fast. Work took me to Springfield, IL, Jackson, MS and Grand Rapids, MI. All the while, my lovely wife took care of everything at home, gift shopping, gift wrapping and decorating for Christmas.

This is our third Christmas in the US, and I know it will be a wonderful one!

Thanksgiving

This year we had Thanksgiving dinner at my Father-in-Law’s house. It was very nice, eveyone was in a really good mood, the food was delicious.

Since I last wrote in my blog, I have been to Scottsdale, AZ, Boston, MA and Muskegon, MI. Thanksgiving week, I commuted to Medina Mon-Wed, a very welcome change after 4 weeks of being on the road.

We went and had family portraits done, a first for us, as I have been the one taking pictures of all of us for a very long time now.

Next week I work Mon-Thu, taking Friday off as I fly to Springfield, IL on Sunday. Friday evening my wife and I will attend Sigma’s Christmas Dinner.

Catching up

After my last post, I have been in New York City again, working, this time in Queens.

We have gotten extremely good feedback from Alex’s teacher, he is excelling in school, reading and writing at 3rd grade level. Cannot express how happy it makes me to hear this, I can tell he loved learning new things, and he beams each time he tells us about what he has done in school.

Stayed home from the office this Friday, as I travelled out on Sunday. Next week I will be going to Scottsdale, AZ for a 5 day business trip.

Grand Rapids, MI / Attleboro, MA / Brooksville, FL

Trips I took the past three weeks, the Florida trip was the nicest. Got some time to myself to go to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which was very enjoyable.

9|11 remembered.

Ten years have passed since the 9/11 attacks on the US. I remember how I thought the world would never be the same again after it happended. For many reasons my tie to the US has always been strong, even before I met Heather in 1996.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost a loved one on 9/11.

If someone were to have asked me then if I would consider living in the US, I would most likely have said no.

It’s strange how things work out sometimes, in February of 2009, I found myself laid off from work, with the means and a plan to relocate. Now we have lived here for more than two years. I have gotten a chance to visit NYC during two business trips. Living here has taken a lot of getting used to, I have tried to have a positive attitude since we arrived, it has helped.

Good Night, and God Bless.

Virginia/Washington D.C. trip

This weekend we went to Virginia to visit the Udvar-Hazy Center (part of the Smithsonian Institution). We stayed two nights at Days Inn in Leesburg, Va.

The whole family (minus Rain) enjoyed it very much. The drive down was pleasant, driving home even better (no engine failure this time). Glad we got to go on a vacation before Alex started school.

Albany trip

Was away Monday-Thursday in Albany on a business trip. This was the first one I planned and went on by myself. It went really well and everyone was pleased with the end result!

Fractured thumb…

Alex fractured his right thumb this afternoon. We took him to the MAC center to have his hand X-Rayed, turned out he had a hairline fracture and need a cast. Poor guy, he is right-handed and starts school soon…

Service training

This week I had training Tuesday – Thurday at work. It was fun to meet people from different hospitals and employees of Sigma who I do not usually get to see.

Wednesday work took us to a wonderful Steakhouse in Lockport, nice!
